Welcome back to civilization! After a rough adventure but thoroughly enjoyable, we arrived by ferry in Melaka and it is a far cry from the jungles of Sumatra. Melaka is a sweet town, the food and food options are even better. Its great being able to wander the streets of China town, eat cheaply in various food markets and just enjoy the serene friendliness that is Malaysia. Both our bellies have been happy every time we have eaten at the Newton food market. Last night we went to a place called Capitol Satay. You essentially sit around a peanut sauce fondue bowl which is possibly a few degrees warmer than molten lava! A couple of children went home with first degree burns incl Brad! You then select your kebab sticks with chicken, prawns or tofu etc and then you cook it. Its a great place!

Prior to dinner last night, we stumbled upon Hui Wang Hon and his apparently famous coconut piercing finger. Yip he put on a show for us where he punched a hole in a green coconut with his index finger. We only saw that part after he spent about 30 minutes using Brad to make the locals laugh and buy his magical ointment! He got Brad out of the crowd (gotta love being 6ft5' among a crowd of 4 ft people) and told lots of jokes in a foreign language and pointed and laughed and threw cards at Brad! He then made Brad try and break a coconut with his finger -to Brad's credit he put in a valiant effort, kung fu noises etc. The Kung fu master also put on a fire eating show where he actually drank the oil and after that started gagging and burping flames. Pretty funny night and we got a free bottle of magic ointment for all of Brad's trouble!

Becs has also been happy to visit all the malls and go on a very very mini shopping spree (as far as the backpack and Brad will allow). She likes Melaka!
