We came to Kuta early as we both wanted to surf, as Kuta is a great learner break, all of the other surf spots we have been have been reef breaks something neither of us are confident using. We were planning on going surfing for the day so we Paid 20,000 for a breakfast buffet, this is a good price considering tea, toast and fruit at a restaurant is 20,000 normally. Here we got to eat, pancakes, rice, noodles, fruit, eggs, toast, until our hearts were content and Brad was finally full.

We are used to wearing a wet suit surfing as the water is so cold back in the UK, today we don't have to wear anything but swim wear. The sun here is so powerful we would crisp up within minutes without any clothes or sunscreen on, especially Leah. We  wanted to get a  rash vest to protect us from the sun but we could not find any cheap ones, they are all original surf makes. We were shocked as we expected at least one of these 100 stalls around Kuta selling tourist juk would be selling fake rash vests. In the end we wore a t-shirt and shorts in.

We rented a board on the beach 25,000 for 4 hours. (7’8 minimal)  It was high tide and the waves looked perfect especially for Leah to practise, long and slowing breaking. TYPE the waves at the back were bigger, they would have been great for Brad but they never break correctly. The wave would be the as long as you could see in each direction but it would break, or 'dump’ all at the same time, making it impossible to ride. The beach was not as busy as we expected and we didn't have any trouble with people getting in our way or being in there’s. We shared the board swapping every half an hour. Leah started to pick some goods waves, turning as she went along. There were a lot of surf lessons taking place, so Leah hung around listening for tips.

After our hours were up we were glad to get out the tide was making its way out making the waves steeper and harder to catch/ride. We haven’t done this amount of exercise for a long time, by the evening we were both ready for bed. We took a walk down Legian street, the main drag and looked in about 20 surf shops looking for a cheap rash vest, but none were cheaper than home. Shopping here is crazy, surf shop after surf shop line the main road, billabong, quiksilver, ripcurl, volcom, west, rusty etc all have huge stores. then every alley between is stuffed with fake stalls and tourist junk.             we had dinner and chatted to drew and Julie who were leaving the following day. We ended up getting ripcurl rashes as they were the best price, £25 each, still a little cheaper than home.

Later we met Drew and Julie at 2100. We were going to eat with them, but drew wasn’t feeling so good so they went back to the room, we had dinner and then went back to theirs to say goodbye later that evening. Then went to bed for a well deserved sleep. its nice have a uber clean room with A/C to come back to after such a hard day.
