The entire Romania trip has been really great so far, but I think that the highlight of the trip is going to end up being here in Brasov.  The city itself is such a great mix of old and new.  I spent a few hours just walking around, taking in all the sites.  The way that the modern city sprung out of the ancient buildings reminded me of a tree or bush growing out of an old bombed out building.  That's not to say that Brasov is in any sort of disarray, because it most certainly is not; it's more to say that the modern city seems to have sprouted out of the ancient architecture wherever there happened to be room, without destroying any of the old underlying structure.  There are sections of the city where a newer building is butted right up against another building that is clearly centuries old.  The entire city is like this.  You have everything you could possibly want out of modern life, yet you don't have to look further than across the street or down the way to see magnificent old gothic-styled churches and buildings.

There are umbrellas all around Brasov that say 'Probably the Best City in the World'.  I take issue with the word 'probably'.  I think they're being too modest, and I felt that Brasov truly had a remarkable feel about it.  I enjoyed eating dinner outside in Brasov more than I have in any other city I've ever been in.  It also helped that I stayed at the Kismet Duo hostel (for the last two nights).  Even though I had to sleep on the floor due to not having a reservation, the hostel was one of the best so far.
