What was originally planned to be a quick layover in San Francisco turned into a full blown trip of its own.  Flying over was nice the Airport was empty and I had an open seat beside me.  So besides a slight odor from the passengers in from of me and sitting in front of a man with abnormally long legs the flight was pleasant.

The first day I got to see the coast up from Half-moon Bay and the quick tour of the city guided by my Aunt
Lisa.  Our tour started the the corner of Haight and Ashbury which is center of flower power in San Francisco and the former stomping ground of rock greats such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead.  This was a really interesting neighborhood filled with hippies, bongs and Gibson guitars.  As you can see in the picture their idea of men's clothing isn't exactly in line with my own.  Overall, a very cool stop

On to Pier 39 for a look at the Sea Lions, fudge and some crazy hats.  I've added a new hat to my collection and I'm trying on a new look so we'll see how that goes over.  Next we headed out to get an amazing view of the Golden Gate from the view of an old gun battery used up into WW2.  Across the bridge I got a tour of the really cool Sausalito and Mill Valley and ended the day with a walk through Muir Woods with the amazing, huge Redwoods.

Yesterday I was wined and dinned in Napa Valley which was amazing.  I'm hardly a wine aficionado but I got shown the ropes of wine tasting, champagne and caviar.  I realize this is going to be a stark contrast from my experience backpacking down the coast but I'm enjoying the pampering while it lasts.  When my Aunt Lisa suggested getting a pedicure and I considered it for a moment I knew that it was getting to the time I needed to move on.

I just realized that this is much longer then I expected, I'm sure I'll cut this down in the future when I work out how this all goes.
