What I did
Visited the Mall of America

For the most critical entry on this destination you can read Alison's entry below.

For me you have to understand it is a guy thing. I walk into a "mall" or other shopping establishment and unless I am on the hunt for something specific the eyes start to glaze over and I go into a catatonic state.

We got to Bloomington ahead of schedule (see previous entry for the reason) and were able to get checked in and unloaded quickly. The hotel is literally across the street form the Mall of America (MoA). You have to walk about two blocks up the street to a crossing point then less than a block to a mall entrance. the hotel also offers free shuttle if needed.

The place is huge. Seeing a 5 story tall amusement park area inside with such rides as a log flume is pretty amazing. As for the rest, lots of stores and more stores and more stores. You get the picture.

We got to all the stores Alison wanted to see and did have dinner at Bubba Gump. Had not eaten at one of these before, but it was good.

We closed the place down and came back to get some needed rest. We believe that because we saw everything we may be able to get out of town earlier than expected and change our itinerary a bit.  If so you will see the changes tomorrow night.

Next stop either Austin, MN or Red Wing, MN

Alison's Entry:

THE BEST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Mall of America is so huge. It has a ton of rides in it including three roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, one of those swing things that go around, and even a log chute! It has more than 520 stores. We went to American Girl Place, Mall Of America Gift Shop, Papyrus, Claire's and even more. Just think of a store at the Frederick Mall and super-size it, then put a bunch of of them in one building. The picture of the characters are the Wonder Pets (Danielle!!!!!!!) It was crazy! It was so much fun! Can't wait for the next stop!

Peg's Additions:

It was cool to see the amusement park and aquarium inside a mall.  I am a shopper but this was too much for even me.  Jan, I'm sure your mother and sister could wear you out at this one.

That sounds like so much fun! By the way I think those 'goofy characters' are from Wonder Pet. Hopefully you had a good time at The Mall of America and while you were there I was at the Harry Potter exibition in NYC. Keep writing about your trip becasue I enjoy reading and seeing all of the thing you have been doing.
