My second day in Semarang I was discovering the "new city" and was really amazed at the number of restaurants, stores, hotels. . .  in this area. Yesterday I couldn't even find a restaurant (western style!!! You know, one where I don't have to sit on a mat on the sidewalk) in the Old City.  Again, I find the "Food Courts" in the malls so easy and efficient that I usually end up having lunch in one mall or another and the AC is also great!!! However, today I ended up sharing my table with a "young cockroach" (should maybe have gone to a warang and sat on a mat on the sidewalk!!!) but I did not panic and decided that as long as it stayed away from my plate I would pretend I didn't see it!!!! I also tried out the Excelcior coffee chain today.  Was not impressed with my expensive small cup of coffee (23000= 2.30)  My americano at J.Co with free doughnut for 15,000 is much better!!!

I went to the tourist bureau to see if there were some tours that I could take as there seems to be interesting places to visit but they are all a few kilometers out of Semarang.  Forgot it was Sunday so of course it was closed.  Now I know why the mall was so packed!! It is Sunday and nothing else to do!!!! but shop!!!!  I started walking back towards the hotel and noticed a sign calling out to me . . . "Cozy Feet Let your feet relax  (Jalan Kpt. Piere Tendean No. 5 Semarang For reservation call 024-354-9823)  I went in to get info on prices . . . and it was just too good not to get a nice foot reflexology!!!!  (They all call it foot reflexology but it is really not the reflexology that I learned in Canada or that I have done in Canada but again neither is the price!!!)  Every place differs but most have the same result. "relaxed feet"!!!  This place was really impressive. I asked how long it had been opened because everything looked so clean and new it seemed that they had just opened but the fellow told me it has been three years.  The whole ambiance is great with a small fountain, relaxing music, low lights and the most comfortable chairs ever and they are not scared of using towels!!!! and oil/lotion. You can also change into some funky "batik shorts" and the  "cute" young men working are dressed in black. (Oh and did I say cute!!!! and also charming!!!)  The whole massage was great including the 30 minute back, neck and arm massage.  So a foot reflexology, back, neck, arm massage for 90 minutes cost 40,000 (4$)  I think I will go back tomorrow!!!!  Oh also I got my first fish spa therapy for about 15 minutes and that was free!!! I talked to a group of Indonesian that arrived and wanted a massage but couldn't because they were fully booked. They had come into Semarang from their town 1 hr. out of Semarang and had heard of this place because of an article they read in the journal this morning!!!  I guess it was another lucky day for me!!!
