Where I stayed
I did some more walking to visit more sites such as the Monumen Kapal Selam (Submarine Monument) which is actually a Russian made sub marine that was used by the Indonesian Navy. I found it to be quite interesting as I had never been in a submarine before. Just the thought of this submarine being completely immersed in water just about brought on a case of claustophobia!! It would have been nice to even have a guided tour inside but none available in english. I noticed that there are quite a few school groups visiting the Monument as well. I also visited another Mosque the Cheng Ho Mosque (no problem to visit without a head scarf here!!) .
I also went to an unusual marke where all that seems to be for sale are garlic bulbs!!! and peppers. The women were busy taking them apart and the thin "onion" paper flying around as well as dust made it very hard to breath and I had to leave shorty after going a few meters inside.
Took a Blue Bird Taxi back to the Surabaya Plaza and it cost me 20000. Blue Bird Taxi is supposed to be one of the most reliable. Everytime I took it the driver was very polite and seemed to take the "more or less" normal route to whereever I was going.
