Stayed at Hanoi Gecko HOtel 11A Trung Yen Lane, Dinh Liet Street, Hoan Kiem Dist., Hanoi, Vietnam.

hanoigeckohotel@gmail.com . Nice large room but hadn't notice that there were no windows!!! However, the ceilings are high, the aircon was efficient and we were just a few stairs to the main lobby which made for a quick and easy escape if needed!!!! Small buffet breakfast was included. The fellows were very nice but other guests did have some problems with being told a certain price than charged another. They are into some scamming regarding transportation and I would "assume" tours!!! They talked me into having them order a taxi for me for the airport as they told me that it would be early in the morning and there would be no shuttle (wrong!!) In the morning it no longer was a taxi but an old rickety van and of course an exchange of money for referral!!! So I paid the price of a taxi and got an old dusty uncomfortable van!!! But I did make it to the airport!!! and was quite a way to leave Vietnam with having been scammed once again!!!!
A return soft sleeper to Sapa cost us 70 dong per person and (35D - one way) Train ride was fine but the smoke from the hallway was seaping into the room. Aircon. worked fine though.
