Having finally departed Ireland we are in Manchester for a little rest and relaxation, staying with Leah (Lauren's best friend) and her husband Paul. Their hospitality has been fantastic and its nice to stay in one place for more than a night without having to lock luggage. Today is our second to last day before we catch a bus to London onto Luton and fly to Slovakia.... Why Slovakia you ask? The reason - we are heading to Turkey for ANZAC Day on the 25th of April the cost for the two of us to fly to Istanbul direct 400.... so after doing a little research we found flights into Slovakia for.... 65 - a rather large saving and as such we leave on Monday to fly there and then make our way to Istanbul. We found out after the flight was booked and the accommodation booked that the airport is 60km away from our place of sleeping, but hey I'm sure we'll be fine!!!!
We flew into Manchester on Tuesday and have mostly relaxed during our time here. We checked out Old Trafford - the home of Manchester United and the IMperial War Musuem - which would rate as one of the best we have seen. Have also done a little shopping. Yesterday we took a day trip to Liverpool where we toured Anfield - the home of Liverpool FC (Soccer) and also the Beatles Story - which tells the story of the Beatles from when they first met right up until they broke up. We were given an audio tour within the ticket which was really informative. On the whole the tour was worth doing. We caught the train to and from Liverpool - about 45mins. A lot of what we saw ensures that Liverpool lives up to its reputation with some areas very run down and the city itself really quite dirty.
Not a whole lot more to report on been a quiet week for us, but over the next few weeks I'm sure there will be many more stories/dramas to report on!!!!!
Take Care in Oz.
Till Next Time
