We started the day off going to Jedediah State Park where we had our first view of the red woods! It's impossible to describe them and no photos I took seemed to do them any justice.
Our next stop was the classic roadside attraction of the giant Paul Bunyan and babe. The statue literally talks to you! There was a pretty weird sky trail that was super cheesy but glad we did it.
From there we traveled down coastal road outside of Klamath to fern canyon. Beautiful. Lots of fog so was hard to see the coast. The N.B. Drury scenic parkway landed us back on the 101 where traveled to Lady Bird Johnson Grove and did a little hike. Easy hike with some pretty big redwoods. It was one of the first plots of redwoods purchased to be saved from logging..I think circa 1906.
We traveled the 101 all the way down to Patricks Point to camp...unfortunately it was full...so we camped at emerald forest just south. It was a pretty cool spot with large trees and cute little amenities/signs. We ended up with trashiest of the trashy white trash camping neighbors who woke up at 9 and started fighting. The mother actually screaming at her children not to be loud because we were sleeping but was the loudest! And at some point broke the latch on their trunk and spent about 4 hours trying slamming it shut to fix it. They left with the trunk open... But this actually day 3 info so I'll get back to it.
