Our resort offered a free shuttle service (departing at 9:00 am) to Leadville so that we could take the 10:30am Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railraod to the top of the mountain and then tour the town. It was perfect weather for the outing and I enjoyed the panoramic views during the
ride on the railroad. Afterwards we had lunch at Callaway's Restaurant,a charming victorian style restaurant with affordable pricing, in the historic Delaware Hotel. We finished up the sight seeing at the National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum and met back up with the shuttle at 3:00pm to return to Vail.Overall, it was a pleasant day...but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to visit Leadville...
