This morning, breakfast was included. It was a good one with lots of choices. Then, our kickstart meeting was at 11am in the hotel lobby. I went down early and met Sheryl & Bethan (twin sisters from England), Chantal & Laura (sisters from Australia), and Esra (from Australia). Then we found out that Hayden was going to be our tour manager and Richie would be our driver. We had to fill out forms and stuff and then we hopped straight onto the bus. Hayden played good music, but he didn't do much talking.

A lot of the people on the tour were finishing in Auckland and just had to do the Bay of Islands with us. I guess their tour was the backward version of what I was doing. So, they all knew each other already, and it was hard to meet people because I was never sure if they were going to be around for a while or if they'd be gone in a couple days. Those first few days were pretty confusing, since Hayden didn't really do much to make us feel welcome or let us know what was going on.

The first place we stopped was at Parry Kauri Park, where we all had to hug a giant Kauri tree or else we would supposedly get bad weather for the rest of our trip. Then, after some more driving, we got to Paihia, which is where we were spending the next two nights. A bunch of us were supposed to go parasailing today, but it ended up being cancelled because it was raining. I guess somebody didn't hug the tree.

Dinner was at a place called Shippey's. I ordered a salad and a burger, but I never even got the salad. A lot of people were going out to the Pipi Patch for drinks after dinner, where there was a traffic light theme (wear green if you're single, red if you're in a relationship, etc.), but I just went back to the hotel instead and got some sleep.
