Tomorrow (Sunday) we will hopefully start our last bit of trekking in Northern Sichuan when we spend 2 days in Juizhaigou Nature reserve. Debs has had a jippy tummy for a few days and so today( Saturday) we ended up taking it easy and chilling out in our luxury hotel. Swimming, watching the Tri -nations rugby, drinking earl grey tea, having a hot shower...
Juizhaigou itself is hideous and looks like the chinese version of Las Vegas - there are enough hotels for 20,000 tourists but only 4 can deal with westerners. The hotels are ugly, garish and totally OTT - at least the surrounding scenery reminds us of why we are here.
Our trip here was adventurous, as ever,as we somehow both managed to miss the town and ended up in some run down town miles away. We ended up paying more to get a taxi back to where we should have been than our bus tickets were from Songpan!! As so few places do western food or have an english menu we ended up going to the Sheraton for tea...luxury!!
Speaking of which, it's time to head up to our superior room....
