May 7, 2010  Woke up 0600, Coffee and bible, post my status on facebook, dressed and out the door to breakfast. On the road at 0930 heading down the California coastal hwy Patty and I in my little red hot car. Dave following behind in his new Chevy Malibu. In about an hour we were traveling along the most beautiful site I have seen so far. Patty is snapping pictures as we travel along. Soon we begin a twisty, turny climb up some mountains and along the oceans edge. The weather is absolutely outstanding, bright and clear, the water is crystal blue, the mountains are soft shades of green. Miles and miles of beauty that will stay in my mind forever. It is so nice to share this trip with friends. We decided to switch drivers so I could take some pictures as we drove along. Soon we reach Big Sur and stop at a little restaurant for lunch. My pictures here will include a bird that joined us for lunch and some very pretty flowers and fountains. We browse through the little gift shop that is attached. Lots of lovely things for sale but sooo expensive. Back on the road to enjoy more of God's creation and to think that man is His crowning glory. Man has the gift of free will so I guess that's why our natural beauty doesn't always measure up to what He had in mind. Please help us to make better choices. Right about now I am thanking God that Patty is driving. She is a California girl and has driven this hwy before and can really navigate the increasing height and sharp turns. She can actually talk  ,drive and see the sites at the same time. From time to time she looks over at me and says close your eyes Bonnie I don't think you will like this and the scene is the same ,you are not missing anything. Next we pass lots of people riding bikes along this narrow twisting hwy, they all seem to be right in the middle of a sharp turn. I can not believe they dare to ride along this mountain edge with cars buzzing by. I am really worried that we are going hit or bump one of them and they are going to fall over the cliff and into the Ocean. I try to close my eyes as Patty has instructed but I keep peeking out trying to see the beauty and hoping not to see us push a biker off the hwy. Before we know it we arrive at our destination for the night. San Simeon. Lovely little spot along the beach where we check into The Days Inn. Dave has to recoup and Patty and I run out to the beach for more site seeing. We also check out the restaurants and inquire about spots to view the evenings sun set. We later enjoy fish and chips and Dave has BBQ. We end a lovely day watching the sunset. Dave and Patty all romantic and Bonnie just falling in love with the view. Blessings to all who read this. See you tomorrow where I will continue on toward San Diego to spend Mothers Day with my wonderful son who inspired my big adventure.

The sunset was breath taking, I can only imagine what it was like in person.

The other shots of the ocean where good, God did good.

Happy Mothers Day.

What made this day so beautiful was the ability to share it with you in person. God was along for the ride because he made the day's weather perfect and dressed the roadside and hills with many flowers. Thanks for the great music and Rosary. We enjoyed the Joyful Mysteries on the way home it was a perfect ending to a great overnight trip. Thanks for your friendship.
