May 4, 2010  Today I woke up totally relaxed and ready to face another day of travel. I read my bible verses for the day and found great comfort in the readings for this day which I posted on my facebook status along with a prayer. Had my coffee and got ready to join the Sisters for Mass. It was totally wonderful. Father had a wonderful visual that helped me to see something I always wondered about and never understood before he presented it in his homily. He held up a piece of cardboard with three layers one on top of the other in different colors. The very bottom represented our soul and he said that most of us that are really trying to relate to God have peace in our soul and I totally relate to that because I do, though he said that in order to have this peace we have to be in a right relationship with God which I am. Next he explained the next layer is our emotional layer and next our mind. He continued to tell us that we must ask through prayer to have the peace in our soul reach out to our emotions and our mind so that these parts that make us who we are can also experience the peace we have in our soul. This made total sense to me because I am one who experiences many anxious thoughts and feelings like when I was driving through  the storm yesterday. I kept wondering how it was that I could be so anxious when I know I trust my life to God. I had never thought of asking God to transfer that peace in my soul to my emotions and my mind so now I had something new to work on the next time fear grabbed me. I decided last night that I would drive as far as Redding California and spend the night this is a 6+ hr drive so I made reservations in another Super 8 in Redding. I really didn't know what the drive would be like but I was so grateful that the weather was sunny and bright the roads were clear and the traffic was minimal for the town of Beaverton as I left. It did rain a little as I began my journey but it was certainly manageable. Mountain, after Mountain up and down round and round. I felt like I was on a ride at six flags and I don't really like those rides only the ones that splash down into water the rest not so much. This went on for hours when I thought I was getting closer to the California border I was really worn out and wondered how far I was. Next I get the feeling I am about to head over a very large mountain and didn't think I wanted to do another so I saw a sign for Super 8 and pulled off the hwy it was now 5:30 and cancellation time for Super 8 is 4:00. The very kind lady in this Super 8 had a room and told me that the mountain I was about to cross over was indeed the very largest of my trip and that she would call ahead for me and tell them I just couldn't go another mountain this day. They granted the cancellation and so here I am in Ashland Oregon. I am so glad I sensed what was ahead. The beauty of this state is so great that I have no words to describe it but I will try and I do have some pictures but the real beauty is all you are driving and can't stop when you do stop the areas are just not as beautiful. Any way giant Forrest green pines line the hwy the mountains are varied colors of green from the deep Forrest green to bright green. Everything in view is soft and gentle looking but still treacherous to drive at least for me. Well I am tired so I will end this little story thank God for good weather and go to sleep. Blessings to all who are reading this!!!!!!
