What I did
Attended the Everett Aquasox game; visited with the Adams'
The hottest day of the year for the residents of Everett Washington was just so pleasant for us- 86 degrees. We'd spent most of our summer in temperatures of well over 90 degrees with high humidity, this was a great relief for us! We were joined at the game by Charles Adams, English professor at Whittier College and one of Joe's closest friends, and two former Whittier residents, Leslie and Howard Fisher, now of Port Angeles, Washington. They had to drive 2.5 hours and take a ferry to get here- I was impressed by their support! It was great to see them and hear of the loveliness of Port Angeles. They should go into real estate- at the end of the visit I was ready to relocate!
After the game, we ate at Anthony's in Edmonds, right on the water. Utterly delicious seafood- my dungeness crab cakes were outstanding, and the spinach salad with peach salsa and bits of blue cheese was wonderful. Looking out over the sunset as the ferry passed by- golden lamplights, with silver blue sea. Sigh.
We spent the night at Charles' parents- Diana and Hazard Adams, whose home overlooks Lake Washington in a suburb of Seattle. Not only did we get to see incredible antiques, we were able to purchase on Kindle Hazard's just released book, The Day the Dogs Talked. We chatted all morning. It was hard to leave, as we really enjoyed their company, but we needed to get back to Yakima for Monday's game!
