Where I stayed
Pilsner Urquell Brewery
We traveled from Brno to the famlous Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Plzen Czech Republic. Once more a tour - photos only allowed if you paid for the privilege so I became the official group photographer. Lots of history here as the brewery dates back to 1842. Down in the cellars they have you samplw the old method of beer - it was quite bitter - and the old gentleman dispensing the beer into our cups did not need English when he wagged his finger at Sam as Sammy held out his cup for a sample.
It was only about 45 degrees in the cellar but at this point of our trip (yep, another hot day in Europe ) it felt really good. Our tour was folowed by an "all you can eat and drink" fest in their restaurant Na Spilce. We soon found that the Europe version of all you can eat is quite different . Bread - all you can eat; beer - all you can drink; ribs - big platters that amounted to one per person with our large group. Thirty minutes late, chicken drumsxticks two per person and then the last meat course, pork knee - large and ugly but actually quite tasty and filling.
