Where I stayed
Paul's RV Resort
Very, very turbulent road, as we are still in the windy weather conditions prevailing all over the Coast from Tampa to Brownsville... Sorry people in Quebec, but I think you will get some of it... in the form of something colder.
Wow! We almost didn't make it to the gas pump. We thought we were fine and checked and saw this long stretch on the map, letting us know it would be long before we saw a gas station. With the wind, pulling the RV, it took every last drop of gas... that we had. We felt somewhat nervous, and more now that we now that we had 2 litres of gasoline left!!! Another funny thing, they didn't take any credit card, we had to pay cash, which took all of or money... except 7 cents. The gas gauge showed one thickness of the needle PAST the empty mark on the gauge. Phew!
We were trying to make it to the camp site before 4 pm, as they told us they were closing at that time. We still had half an hour to drive. Hopefully it will be a nice stop before Mexico.
Today, we also saw the palm trees again that we lost coming north of Florida along the west coast, PLUS our first Cactuses... Cactii. Joy help me!!!
We look forward a relaxing drink!
This is Ian, now, with a relaxing drink! As it happens it's Valentine's day and I (for once) managed to remember to get a card. As it happens, when we arrived here in Brownsville (great choice of name) at 'Paul's RV Resort' they told us that there was a Valentine's dance tonight. What could be better? There's even a band.
Decided to slow our pace and give ourselves a week here before going to Mexico. Got the dogs checked at the vet and organized for insurance. Paul's RV Resort is full of Canadians and has a lively social calendar - a dance last night, talent competition tonight and jam session tomorrow.
