Where I stayed
Victorian Acres
We enjoyed our morning too much in Chappell and didn't leave until 9:30, so we had a long day. We did stop in Gothenburg, NE to visit the original Pony Express Station. It was an interesting stop but also took time out of our day.
1413 miles
We are now into the Hot, Humid country. We couldn't keep the moisture off the outside window of the truck as we drove into Nebraska City looking for the State Park. When we finally found the park, after driving through this beautiful town, it was under water. The park is right on the Missouri River and the dams had been opened and then the rains came. The caretaker happened to be at the entrance and told us about Victorian Acres RV Park, she watched us drive out and saw that we were already lost. She pulled up and said follow me, then drove us to the other park! Small town hospitality again and again.
It was 7:00 Central Time by the time we got to our site, both worn out, hot and hungry. Thank goodness for our microwave and some Costco "Sliders", dinner was served in 3 minutes. Jim took a few pictures at the Pony Express Station but will upload them later.
All for now.
Love, Karen

It IS the people along the way who make the journey special, isn't it? Hope you get some cool and dry tomorrow! I'm heading to D.C. in a little over a week. They are sweltering right now, so the predicted 90's actually look good! Take care.
Glad to hear that all is well (if a bit hot and humid!)...Erica would like it because her hair would be curly again! That is very cool that you got to stop at the pony express station. Flooding in the midwest is a crazy sight...it makes you understand why ancient people thought the whole world was under water. Blessings and prayers in your direction!

Jim & Erica, My hair is enjoying the moisture also. It is just soft and curly and I haven't done a thing to it.
Gayle, Safe journey to DC. I'll be watching for details on your trip.
