Nrom headedsouth today, and I made a round of the rest of the sights, including Old Faithful. Charming, but underwhelming. By the end of the day I had seen enough geysers and inhaled enough sulphur dioxide to last me a while. It was a reliefto return to Pebble Creek in the Lamar Valley.

This place has a real Jurassic Park feel to it. A wide, fertile valley with crystal clear stresma and rivers criss-crossing it, and an ever-present herd of bison that have permanent right of way. On a bike you feel a little exposed, especially as other people are taking pictures from behind their cars. Luckily we know what to do when we're charged, right? Norm actually did have to gun it to get out of a bison incident on day 1. They're so tame 98% of the time...

In the evening I read mybook, 1491, about American civilization pre-Columbus. A really interesting book. Most of it takes place in South America, where I'm headed, sort of.
