Goodbye Sheraton Penthouse, Hello Park Hotel Cockroach Plaza. We decided to hang around town and wait for the crew to arrive on Wednesday. After all, the Lumpster must be near shopping. Used to be you would endure a taxi ride through Bangkok's fuming gridlock to move across town. Today it was hop on the river ferry, down one stop to the Skytrain station, change trains at Siam Square and off at Nana station and a few steps to the hotel. Fast, cheap and air-con.

While every other tourist around here is getting a massage (of some sort), I podded off to check out the Bumrungrad Hospital. The place is incredible. Huge. Mobbed. Clean and shiny. If you didn't know, you would think you had just entered a resort hotel.

And it's true... there is a starbucks in the lobby.

I was directed to admitting then usurered to a clerk and had a quote for an anterior cervical fusion of C 4,5,6 in less than ten minutes. It would have taken me that much time to get through the telephone tree to a human with IHC at home.

I'm impressed.

Oh yeah, they want $22,150, or 886,000 baht.

The massage would be cheaper.

I'm still having a really hard time recognising you without the mustache and your Speedos. Is it really you???

Cleanliness is next to Budda?
I particularly like the tooth picks. And they already unwrap them for you. How handy.
