Yesterday was Father's Day and although it rained all day, my labmates
decided to celebrate by going on a 'tour' of the city. I tagged
along and found that the 'tour' consisted of pulling a wagon full of
beer through the paths of the town-quite illegal in the U.S.!!! I
had a great time getting to know everyone and also got a chance to see
the Freiburg Zoo as well as some lakes. Afterwards, we returned
to Juan's (a student in the lab) flat and cooked some bratwurst.
All in all, it was a good day to get to know my co-workers.
Today was a beautiful day. I awoke this morning and decided to
hunt down a backerei (bakery) which was quite easy (although I couldn't
find a market to buy milk etc.). Afterwards, I went took a stroll
through Freiburg with the other two RISE participants and went to
Munster Cathedral and some shops through town. We climed the
tower at Munster and got an amazing view of the city!! The
Cathedral is beautiful and I would definitely recommend visiting it to
anyone who comes here. I've included some of the pictures I took
from today so you can get a better idea of the city and my surroundings.
