Hello Everyone!!
I am going to try to create this online log of my trip so that you can
keep up to date with what I am doing. I arrived in Freiburg
yesterday and took the train from Frankfurt to here without much
trouble. My mentor met me and the other students (along with
their mentors) at the train station and we were taken to our apartments
and then went out to town for the evening. I had some great food
-seeben mit schinken- which is a sandwich with ham (sounds boring but
was actually different than most sandwiches in the U.S.). I
then came back to my apartment and tried to figure out how to use the
internet. After a long while, my roomate Claire (from France)
came home and gave me the correct password, but I had tripped the
switch in my room while trying to charge my computer so no lights would
work!! The house manager came to try to fix things, but could not
until this morning so now I have lights and working internet!!
My first day at work went well, but I haven't done too much yet.
I did go to the IKEA store and got a pillow, comfortor, and alarm clock
for about 20 euro!! I didn't have these items last night and it
made sleeping quite uncomfortable. I rode my bike home from work,
it was quite a nice ride and took me about 20 minutes...hopefully it
will help to keep me in shape since I will be riding that route twice a
day.
That's all for now, Ciao!
