Today we set off for Freilandmuseum. This is a number of hectares set up outside another town where houses of different styles and ages are brought to and reassembled just as they would have been in the village from which they had been brought. There were shepherds’ quarters, farmhouses, flour mills and breweries! I asked some questions about the brewing process and being an old home brewer E was convinced that I understood the spiel from the brewer. Well he was doing a chalk diagram about the breakdown of malt? sugars into shorter sugars for the fermenting process, so I knew that and then he talked temperature, but wait, they bring the wort down to under 10 degrees celsius! Never mind after the chat we sat down at the pub and had a half litre of his beautiful beer.
Talk about cheap food, we had a feast of cold meats, rye bread etc for about 8 euros. and they call this the tourist season!
