This town is big, very big. Some say over 22 million people live here, and when you get up to one of the many building with panoramic terraces, you have no problem believing it! Towers everywhere you look stretching as far as the eye can see. Basically it's like Manhattan except much larger with slightly smaller towers – or even a cross between Manhattan and Mexico city… anyhow am sure you’ll get the point when looking at the pics.

I thus spent a day and a half wandering the streets of this metropolis and honestly did not find it that exceptional. It is obviously a city that grew very fast over the last half century and which has little to offer for the passing tourist. The parque  Ibirapuera is Sao Paolo’s answer to central park and nice enough to stroll around in, whilst the old town is a mix of a few churches/convents squeezed between 40 storey buildings.

One good side however is the gastronomy. Sao Paolo had large Italian and Asian neighbourhoods which along with some Arab and obviously local influences helps provide a wide and delicious range of dining options – I opted for Japanese and splurged on a sushi feast! To be fair, I think this is a bit like Lima – a city that has to to be lived in to really appreciate the vibe – another time perhaps!
