After sleeping in a bit first night on island, we picked a direction to wander in search of food and found The Brunch Club and Supper. Artistic decor and western meals. We're in.
Day was spent walking, staring at city sights and buildings and getting a flavor of Hong Kong.
We were also on the hunt for a newly released Canon pocket camera that Toby had been unable to get prior to leaving for this trip.
Hot, sunny and bright day heading for at least 30. Humid too.
The pictures although spectacular simply do not do justice in describing the sheer breath-taking buildings crammed into this city. And of course the crowds.
We boarded various open air double-decker streetcars and climbed to the second level to enjoy the ride and sightsee. Toby took videos. When things looked interesting, we hopped off to walk around. A simple touch of the Octopus card to a screen on exiting the trams deducted the fare and displayed the card balance. Cheap! Just over $0.30CAD for these streetcar rides.
And bonus, Octopus could be used for purchases at a lot of stores (like 7-Eleven if we wanted), topped off if low and when finished with it, the balance refunded less a small admin fee on return of the card. A must in HK if staying for any period.
Lots of pictures today which hopefully provide a good blog entry.
Also located a laundry place a short walk from hotel in Wan Chai area we recalled seeing the night before and took over things for cleaning. After 12 days comprised of the hot humid village region and polluted Beijing, it was time. Pickup the next day and no complaints on the price: barely over $5.00CAD all packaged and neatly folded.
Pedestrian Alert. Back to left lane driving. Those Brits. Toby spent many a time grabbing me before I stepped out onto the road forgetting to look RIGHT.
