Luzern is a beautiful little alpine village beside a huge lake - Lake Luzern (funnily enough!). The town itself can keep you occupied for days, simply relaxing over a coffee, or exploring the endless amounts of boutique shops.
The highlight of the stay was the day trip to Engelburg and then up Mount Titlis (3020m high). The scenery on the train/cog wheel train was amazing in its self but the real adventure began on the cable cars up the mountain. I hadnt been on a cable car since i was a child and i have to admit it scared the §°&* out of me when we crossed the first tower, i thought i was going to fall off! (Mare caught my reaction on video haha). When we finally reached the top it was cloudy and like a blizzard (-15° not including wind chill factor!). Went on an open air chair lift over the glaciers and i honestly thought my legs and fingers were going to drop off they were so cold. Retreated back inside to thaw out and i decided to try the Swiss coffee/schnaps special ( i had 3 sips and thought i was going to vommit! it was one part coffee, 50 parts schnaps!!).
The clouds had now cleared so we ventured outdoors again (still around -15), it was spectacular, we were above the clouds, and the sun was shining on the surrounding alps (refer video footage).
Would have to say this has been the highlight of the trip so far!
