There were around 17,000 women from all over the world that came to this year's Colour Your World conference and around 1,000 children got sponsored through Compassion.
The opening night is very powerful. Every session is so uplifting, full of fun and laughter but there are also times where we just cried. There were also just those crazy or silly moments. It feels like we're on this giant lounge room, having a chat and enjoying each other's company.
I had a chance to spend time with the girls in my small group - Lucy and Nancy. We also hung out most of the time with other friends like Aubrey, Vianti, Ann, Nikki, Rosemae and others. Last year I was here with my mum and family friends and the previous year was with my flatmates.
The highlight for me this year is when they challenged us to do what we can in our own little world. A video was shown about the need in Uganda, Africa on orphans, widows and child soldiers. Everyone was moved and this is indeed a "grow up moment" for all of us.
These words from Brooke Fraser's new song Albertine expressed how I felt:
"Now that I have seen, I am responsible
Faith without deeds is dead
Now that I have held you in my own arms
I cannot let go til you are..."
I felt in my heart that it's time for me to reach out once again and make a difference in others lives. I don't have to wait until I have more but I can do something with what I have now.
On the closing night, they released many giant yellow balloons and heaps of confetti into the audience while the boys sang to us. I felt so joyous as everyone took turned punching the massive floaters into the air and they would bounce back down onto another section. Some bursted and more confetti fell out of it.
This event have placed more COLOUR in our lives.
