Boo Hoo, only one more shore day which is tomorrow in Corsica. But we won't think about that because our port today is so fascinating and beautiful.
We arrived in VilleFranche which is the gateway to the French Riviera.
It is a beautiful coastal town and very picturesque and french.
It is what photos of this area look like. The water is crystal clear, there are patio tables right on the water and little boats in the harbor. They even have a hotel called the Welcome Hotel which overlooks the water. The balconies of the homes are filled with flowers and in my second life this is where I want to live. Yvonne says I say that about each port and I am going to need a lot of second lives to accomplish this. I am sure heaven will be much like VilleFranche!
There was a little crafts market right near the dock so we looked around and then walked along the harbor to the train station, We wanted to go to Monte Carlo and then Cannes.
The Grand Prix was starting the next day in Monte Carlo so it was exciting to see the preparations for the race. We walked along the route and got pictures of the bleachers and saw more huge yachts then I have seen in my lifetime. The money that was lined up in the harbor was probably in the billions. I think I even have a distant picture of the Prince Rainer's, yacht. Someone told us it is as big as a cruise ship and he was in the castle that day.
We walked all over Monaco and made our way to the famous Monte Carlo casino. I felt like James Bond standing in front of this very famous place.
We stopped at a Patissierre and bought sandwhiches and sweets and saat on a small wall to eat and watch people. We then took the train to Cannes. Cannes is the home of the Cannes film festival and it was going on while we were there. We did not see anyone famous but the people were all lined up waiting for them to show up that night and I have a picture of the red carpeted stairs where they will all walk.
We then took the train back to VilleFranche and walked around and looked in the shops. Sharon was trying to find a French tablecloth but couldn't find the one she wanted.
We were very tired but Yvonne and I went to the the comedian. He is so stupid he is funny. It was a great show and we really enjoyed ourselves.
