Where I stayed
Eric is being a little harsh on Isla
Taboga. But since all we really wanted was some quality island /
beach time we headed north for Isla Grande on the Caribbean side of
Panama. Isla Grande is just a short boat ride from the mainland.
The island is very small but there were tons of accommodations and
restaurants. After being escorted around by a wacky guy named
Captain Banana we finally settled on the best of all accommodation
options. This turned out to be a 3 bedroom cottage with a big porch,
hammocks and an outside bar
but we had to spend the first hour trying to clean it so I wouldn't
freak out. The island has no cars and the front half is walkable.
On the other side of the island is a resort that is reached by boat
or by a jungle hike 280 steps up and 250 down. We spent lots of time
reading, swimming and fishing with our new hand line. Unfortunately
nothing was caught that was bigger than my hand. We found this
grounded abandoned boat that was just off shore. Eric climbed aboard
and we fantasized about fixing it up and living on it but alas we did
