The day started out with a hearty breakfast at our local Cafe Kuijper with the local wildlife... giant bumble bees and J's new best friend free wifi! We took the No. 9 to Mr. Visser Plein and stumbled across a street market where J and Dan did a Dutch version of antiques roadshow while Michie and I found our way to the big double decker red bus to get our tourist on.

First stop the Heineken Experience. The highlight being the lame 4D movie where we discovered what life is like to be a heineken beer. Was pretty excited to discover Steeping was involved! Lots of advertising along the way with some horses, beer bottle chandeliers, photo opportunities and finally beer tasting. Not sure I am the biggest Heineken fan. After we realised the 'free gift' was pretty much a scam we continued along Stadhouderskade till we arrived at the Rijks Museum, a beautiful building and manicured gardens at the back.

A 2 for 1 cocktails voucher lured us to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch (mac n cheese) and back on the bus to Westerkerk (famous church) and the even more amazing, the line to get into Anne Frank's Huis. We came, we saw, we took a photo of the front door! Perhaps tomorrow.

Such a beautiful day strolling up Spuistraat and stopping for prosecco and beers along the canal in the afternoon sun. We have realised Amsterdam is the place to people watch. Every cafe and bar has the chairs facing the street so you can watch the world go by and amaze at all the bikes, scooters, cars and trams speeding by without crashing into one another.

On to some delicious cheese fondue in the red light district with a acrobatic cat jumping onto patrons tables and a few beverages at some charming establishments before heading to Centraal for a surprise. The boys booked a candlelight cheese and wine cruise so we sailed off into the sunset (at 9.30pm!) to see Amsterdam from the water. Interesting to see all the different houses and houseboats, oh and the yellow submarine. After cheese tasting our way through the picturesque canals by candlelight we found our way back to the red light district to see the 'sights' at night.

Pizza slices and confusion on why we couldn't catch a tram at 3am on a Tuesday morning led us to the most random taxi ride speeding through the streets at what felt like 160mph. We can happily report we made it to our hotel safely (although its all a little hazy) for some much needed rest.
