The day started off sunny and humid as we strolled to our New Orleans School of Cooking class where our teacher Kevin taught us how to make gumbo, red beans and rice, pecan pie and praline. All were amazing, especially the gumbo, so many flavours. After, Dan couldn't help but spend up on some southern spices. We will have to do a big New Orleans cook up when we get home. Kevin was definitely a character and should be on TV.

When walking out of the cooking class the weather had turned bloody awful, raining and pretty chilly. We have discovered that you say New Orleans like Norlns over here, we are trying to pick up the accent. We passed a tourist centre and booked in our swamp airboat and plantation tour tomorrow, can't wait!

On to the National WWII Museum with a 4D movie on America's involvement in the war. The fourth dimension was the shaking of our chairs as tanks rolled over the screen and the Hiroshima bomb was detonated. Was quite an interesting museum. We then walked down to the Riverwalk to see the Mississippi River. We picked up some massive Abita beers and strolled through the shops, picking up a M&M covered pretzel on the way!

Back to the French Quarter to the Red Fish Grill for dinner and cocktails. After a tasting plate we had to try their alligator sausage and seafood gumbo which was voted the best gumbo in Norlns for the last 3 years..... We think Kevin's gumbo was better. After stuffing ourselves silly we headed back to our hotel bar for more cocktails and a few games of pool on the fancy carved table from Arizona. Nice way to finish off the day.
