Day 60

Very early start again this morning as I have to get an 8am shuttle to Bocas. The first thing I did this morning was go and check that Becky wasn't dead and that Marcelo's truck had at least gone. It apparently had so I assumed that hopefully they were back at the sanctuary now and Becky and the car hadn't actually been kidnapped! After having a healthy breakfast of sour cream and onion pringles we set off for Bocas. I was slight dreading the border after my ridiculous 3 hour queue last time. Thankfully, although we still had to queue, it was only about 40 minutes. Why they only have one desk for crossing into Panama at a busy border is beyond me, but there you go, this is Central America! We headed towards the next bus and it looked like it might rain, I was kind of excited but didn't want to get my bag wet. Out came the rain cover which I promptly put a hole in. Excellent.

Finally arrived at Bocas and checked into the same hostel I went to last time, Heike, this time I wisely picked an air con dorm as it was so hot last time. I immediately went to aqua lounge which is just across the water and is a great place to go to in the day when you don't want to take a water taxi to the nearest beach. I thought you now had to pay a cover charge so went to the bar to pay it. They told me it was only for ladies night but were so impressed with my honesty that they gave me a free margarita! Uh score! I swear being honest hardly ever pays off, well finally it did! I just chilled there for the rest of the day, chatting to people and practicing filling my mask with water and clearing it for my dreaded skills on Monday! It eventually started to rain a bit (RAIN, YES!) so I headed back to the hostel.

After I got back I relaxed in the dorm for a bit and I could see someone passed out the floor and a girl passed out on her bed. About an hour later the POLICE came in and tried to get this guy to leave. What I hadn't realised at all was he was completely naked! He was also completely off his face and they basically had to carry him out, drama. Kind of funny I had just been in the room for an hour with a naked drunkard and hadn't even realised. Good observation. After the mini drama I went out for dinner and managed to get steak at a restaurant for $10, bargain. And then being the very cool person that I am, I went home and chilled at the hostel rather than going out. So rock and roll huh!

Day 61

Definitely forgot Panama was an hour ahead when I set my alarm this morning, oops. So I got up a bit later than planned but still made it to the beach by 11. I'd decided to go back to red frog beach which I had briefly visited on my trip here last time. It's a pretty nice beach but the water wasn't as nice today, there was a lot of seaweed! Three guys from the hostel came with me, two of them went off fishing, which as a marine protected park I wasn't sure they could do... The other guy stayed with me and went surfing, or tried anyway. I decided as this was technically my holiday I was going to treat myself and get a sun lounger, totally worth it. It was windy and I would have been covered in sand in seconds. However at one point I lent back onto my towel and something bite/stung the fuck out of me. It felt like I had been stabbed in the back and worse I had no idea what had done it. I just had to hope it wasn't poisonous. It really hurt though, little shit, get your own god damn towel!

I spent the rest of the day sunbathing (got a tad burnt) and hula hooping on the beach which was great to practice finally! Been seriously slacking in it recently because I just have no time. At 5:30 we met up with the other guys and headed back to the hostel. I still needed to confirm my pick up to leave tomorrow and I had already called in the morning with no answer. I must have called about 20 times to the two numbers I had been given and no one ever picked up. I was really worried I was going to have to book another trip to get back in time as if I miss the bus in puerto viejo tomorrow it means I won't make it back to Playa Coco tomorrow, which would really suck. Thankfully I mentioned the guy I was trying to get hold of and the woman who works there knew him and sorted it out for me. Thank the lord! I also did a bit of shopping. I was trying to look for guatemalan goods as I hadn't been able to go to guatemala. I didn't find that but I did find ancient Roman coins. Yes that's right I bought some Roman coins, bizarrely in Panama and on a bloody island. So weird. And very cool, but cheap! So if any of you read my status last week about I bet you couldn't guess what I bought, this was it!

When I got back I noticed that where I had been bitten was a massive, hard lump and it was really red all around it. Eeh, and it was so itchy, so no idea what got me! I went out for dinner with the guys I went to the beach with and one of their friends. Amazing rotisserie chicken and fries for $3. Yum. Everyone is going out to ladies night at aqua lounge but I ended up being totally boring and reading my dive master book. See Brenda I wasn't lying lol. About half and hour after I eventually went to bed, at around 1:30am, the four Germans who are staying in our dorm decided to be total dick heads. They kept coming in and out of the room, turning the light on and off every time and talking at full volume whilst me and someone else were trying to sleep. This lasted for about half an hour before I had a massive go at them. I hate people who don't have dorm etiquette, just don't stay in a dorm if you're going to be an arsehole to everyone in it. And it's called a torch people, a travelling and dorm necessity. Very frustrating when people don't care about anyone else!
