So as most of my section is all over the place, and they don't actually do sections per volunteer now, I headed over to section 4/5 where I didn't really spend much time before. This is where characters such as Melaza, Harpo and Poko and Shiloh reside, as well as Sofia, Bam Bam and there new baby. Harpo is massive now, and a little bit porky bless him. He's still a massive fur ball too which is probably why he looks so huge. Melaza is still his loving neighbour next door and I got a thorough tongue bathing from her. Man she loves the kissing. It was so nice to see some of the the sloths I looked after before and see all of the babies graduated into the enclosures, they've all grown up so much
We have a bit of a routine change and we put out all of the vegetables and hand them out before breakfast. At first, when Selma (kitchen mom), started handing out all the plates I thought we didn't even give out the food anymore and was like, whattttt? But phew, we still do. Feeding is pretty much the best time of day.
After we had breakfast and I have got straight back on the nutella, it's like a dietary requirement here. Although as we do a lot mor relaxing then running around compared to before I can imagine I won't be losing weight quite as easily as before! Plus Selma's excellent cooking is too good.
Next it was baby time, at the moment there is literally one good sloth in the nursery, the adorable Linus. Seriously he gets the award for most chilled out two fingered sloth ever. The others are extremely feisty, aka bitey. Snickers, who was in Judy's nursery with Linus is one such sloth and although we bought him out he literally spent most of his time attacking us, the jungle gym, his teddy. Don't be fooled by his adorable face he is a terror! I tried to get Ubu out but he was having none of it, and all of the juveniles in the enclosures were snoozing or eating
Then we washed vegetables, theirs no peeling anymore, just scrubbing. It's SO much easier than what we had to do before! Then we were done by like 10:30 and have a break till 1pm. This is very different. Usually I would have maybe a half an hour lunch, if I was lucky, when I was there before. So it's much more relaxed.
After lunch I literally raced back determined to clean section two as I haven't really seen the rest of my residents who are still there and I wanted to hang out with Piphany. Zoey totally recognised me too and actually gave me kisses, maybe they missed me. All of the others seemed to be doing well, although Cosmo seems to have one of those sores on his nose and Piphany has had her leg shaved :( it looks like she had another sore there too. Not cool, needs to bugger off. After I said hi to all of my guys I cleaned section 3 too and checked out Sarita, who had a sore before too. She STILL has it even after 4 months. I wonder if they know what it is yet? I will have to remember to ask Marcelo
Next we gave out almond leaves and beans and that's the end of the day for us. However we ended up staying behind for a bit which was lucky as the new baby sloth with Bam Bam and Sofia, was on it's mothers stomach at the top of the enclosure and because it's so small it was managing to stick most of it's body through the top before we pushed it back down. We tried to fix the metal on top but it didn't really work so we let Judy know and she's going to get someone to put chicken wire over the top.
Later we were all chilling out by the river and I was thinking about Matthew (who died) and I was like, hang on, where's Jesse? (the other baby brady who was like Matts opposite) Apparently he died too a little while after Matt. So sad, they were both so adorable.
I went with Jeff and the others to cover the babies, and saw Timon, the kinkajou they have at the sanctuary, at the front of his enclosure. He's hardly ever there and was being really playful. He will bit you hard though. He escaped once and bit the crap out of Rolo. I got to have hugs with Linus again too while Jeff covered up the babies, he's literally the greatest baby! So I just chilled with him for a bit which was lovely.
After we were meant to be watching The Skeleton Key, the film i'd bought for Steven. We had literally made tons of popcorn (I attempted popcorn with nutella -not bad), and then discovered that even though there was apparently music and sound there were no voices. They were all mute. We spent an hour trying to fix it and it still wouldn't work, we debated whether we should just read it out in pairs for a laugh but eventually tried another film which also had no voices. By this point we had eaten all the popcorn, I think I managed to eat a bag and a half to myself. Fail. So we gave up and went to bed! Feel a bit ill from WAY to much popcorn!
