The bus ride was fine, I was baking for most of it because people refuse to open their windows-why? And I managed to empty most of my water bottle in my bag, thankfully my iPad was saved. I was super excited to be coming back, especially when I got closer. Luckily people got off at my stop as even though I was trying to stop it I had no hope. I am apparently the hulk as well as when I tried to pull my suitcase out the handle ripped off in my hand, helpful!
I was going to try and sneak in and surprise everyone but Ursula, Judy's daughter, was at the front gate and there were like 2 massive coaches inside and about 70 people. That my friends is cruise ship day!
I gave Judy all of the goodies, she was particularly pleased by the super comfy dog bed I bought and the bene-bac (think of it as yakalt for pets), and I caught up on all of the news and saw the new babies. Mojo, who used to be the size of my hand, is now so much bigger. He's growing really slowly but he seems massive to me now. Two of the sloths have had babies, naughty. Sofia and Bam Bam have had one and their baby has stayed with them and also Alemendra, my cheeky little sloth from section 2 has had one! Unfortunately she didn't get on with her baby so they had to take it away from her. Do you remember me saying before that you could totally make a sloth soap opera here? Well Alemendra originally shared her in closure with Manny and Primo, two male sloths so they don't know who the father is, dun, dun, dun! Little slut.
After lunch I went round to see my sloths, most of section 2 is empty and has been moved so my sloths were everywhere! Some were in section 3, 5, 6! Piphany and Zoey were still there though and so I went to see them. I think Pip totally recognised me as she lifted her head up when I called her and then smelt me all over and licked me, she's too cute. But she seems so much smaller then I remember, all of them do in fact. So much has changed here, the routine is different and it seems that the volunteers do less work. Which is a shame because although we we really run off our feet last time I really loved the work and the amount of it
After reacquainting myself I headed into Cahuita as I needed some goodies, flip flops basically and then came back to the sanctuary and chilled with Jeff and the babies and played with Linus and Ubu for a bit. Ubu has another urine infection, but it seems a lot worse then when I was here last time. For the rest of the evening I just relaxed with Steven, Jeff and their new puppies until the rest of the volunteers came back from Cahuita. Jeff told me that one of the tourists today asked him why the giant sloth went extinct, Jeff gave his answer and then the tourist said, "so not Noah's flood then?" - stupid things tourists say no 1. We then headed back to the volunteer house where Kat, an Australian volunteer, helped me with my suitcase and managed to break one of the wheels off. So now I have one wheel and one handle! Poor suitcase.
First day tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes!
