So first extra day at the sanctuary today and technical first day being a semi vet! Gigia was very naughty and didn't eat his leaves last night and Pip doesn't seem to be eating which is not good.

All of the medicine stuff went swimmingly this morning, managed to easily apply ointments and pastes and give antibiotics. Boom! However I then had to do the wild sloth. This went fairly well until we had to try and put him back in the cage. Jorge was helping me and ended up dropping to poor thing back on the table because the George was literally cutting of his finger. I got away with some cuts on my wrist but Jorge had some nice gashes on his thumb. Note to self, wild sloths have serious grip. Apparently though, instead of getting a bite, I can count this towards getting official sloth wrangler status.
Come on wee and poo!

Before Judy came down to check on the sloths I spoke to her about Ubu and she said she thought we'd have to put him back in the nursery while his sore healed. This was exactly what I had said to Marcelo a couple of days ago as well. We just don't want to separate him from his room mates as they all adore each other so I thought we might be able to have little play dates with them so they can still spend time together. Claire thought that was a good idea so we'll see.

Our little helpers vanished in time for barros so, although we only had two boxes, it still tool forever. Damn those leaves! During barros time Primo and Judy came round and we went through some of the sloth problems. Apparently Lulu definitely is a boy and it definitely isn't Lulu in that cage. So who knows where the actual Lulu is. Primo also said to me, when we were giving George some more paste for his broken claws that he thought I was doing a really good job here. Why thanks! :)

I think Claire is beginning to think that I have some sort of sloth plague as she said today that they've never had as many problems as there's been since I got here! She also joked that it was me, I like to think that I'm just noticing all these problems rather than causing them, ha.

Pip still hadn't eaten anything by the end of the day :( she's not allowed to be ill, I love her too much! Gigia is still being his adorable self giving me tons of kisses and following me around, so cute! I also have another job to do tomorrow, cage adjustments, as I discovered parts of Faith and PJ's cage are really sharp and I think it's how she hurt her foot, so tomorrow I have to sand it down! I also made Dusty laugh today as she heard me scolding Thunder, one of my sloths as he tried to bite me/swipe at me. So I told him off, she thought it was hilarious that I was chastising a sloth especially when I said to her that he needed to know that sort of behaviour isn't acceptable ! I think they listen to me anyway!

After work I found a scorpion which I lovingly rehomed with Jorge, despite Dusty really wanting to kill it! Poor thing. In the process I nearly got attacked by an evil cane toad, they're literally everywhere tonight and I found another two when I went back into the sloth enclosures to put George back in the vet clinic. Be gone toads!

Finally going to go to Puerto Viejo tomorrow with Dusty, Brittany and Jorge and have to move to the volunteer house on Monday. So can't be bothered with that!
