Where I stayed

Was woken up nice and early at 3am by the girls who were leaving for Roatan. They obviously hadn't bothered packing properly so made loads of noise AND turned the light on, which, as the rest of the dorm occupants were on the top bunks, was really rude. Head torches people! No dorm etiquette, they were probably 'flash packers' and didn't have one.

None of us were bitten by bed bugs so that solves that once and for all. I was bitten a few times though and the mosquito bites here feel like bruises, I have a wonderful one on my bum, thanks mosquito! Went for breakfast but nothing was open! Most the time everything is open super early in central america. Ended up going back for breakfast where I had dinner, it was yummmm. Ordered WAY too much though. Also discovered that my camera was apparently not working. it was refusing to save pictures to my memory card so I thought it might be the card. This was all 5 minutes before I went on my expensive zip line so I was going to be pissed if I had no photos.

Before I could even try to fix it I had to get in the van for the zip line. I told them that I needed a new memory card so they took me to a shop where I forked out $25 for one, which then also didn't work. AWESOME.
I could however take photos on my internal memory, so at the moment it appears I will only have 32 photos to use on the rest of this trip.

The zip line was average. I definitely could have skipped it and it totally wasn't worth $45. I also managed to get stuck twice before the platform. Once because I'd braked to hard and the other I'd managed to catch my glove and literally stopped immediately. In the middle of the zip line. Just dangling there in mid air. I was lucky it was my glove not the finger to be fair. I managed to do a pretty good job of hauling myself in and then got helped the rest of it. Embarrassing! - why blondes should not do zip lines. I also wondered how fat people do this as you literally have to be shoved up into the actual zip line and then pushed back out of it. The guys had a hard time getting me in and out let alone ginormous people. Also the equipment, not comfortable. It's like your hanging by your vagina and thighs at a great height. I'd imagine it's even worse for guys, I wonder if anyone has like popped a ball or something before, I could totally see it happening.

After I got dropped off me and Jodie, a Canadian at the dorm headed to the archaeological site of Copan. We stopped off on the way so I could book a 3 hour horse riding trek tomorrow and I checked up on the Honduras vs Brazil score (they didn't win, which was a shame). We managed to sort out a guide, Saul, at the park for $5 each. He was awesome, loads of information and he was really interesting too. He told us all about the fights with his father when he wanted to become a musician, he loved the beatles etc. He was pretty cool. I absolutely LOVED the site. It's probably my favourite Mayan site now. Really big, great views, tons to see and lots of shade too which is always good! Went to the sculpture museum afterwards before heading back to the host fairly knackered in a tuk tuk (the driver of which asked me out for coffee/lunch/to go clubbing ha)

Went to the German micro brewery with dorm people where I found Saul the guide who had promised to introduce me to the main archaeologist guy at Copan to see if they had anything I could do on the site. Ended up spending about 3 hours there and got a free dinner out of it. I was meant to be meeting up with an Australian guy that I met in palenque for a drink during this time but I felt that I couldn't leave. Felt bad that I didn't show up so hopefully he forgot or something! Managed to get some potential work out of it so that was good! Went back to the brewery after wards and ran into Saul on the way who was very drunk! Everyone else seemed to be pretty merry too!

Off horse riding tomorrow before I go to San Pedro. I could definitely stay in Copan longer, it's a really nice town and there's so much to do! I'd love to have time to go back to the site again as well. Maybe I'll end up working here next year! ;)
