Where I stayed
We finally had the relaxing day we wanted, sailing around the lake, going to the pretty villages of San Juan, San Pedro and Santiago. There was a cool little school marching band in San Juan and I managed to get myself stuck in the middle of it, there were tons of locals of watching and there was this white, blonde girl dancing about trying to look as inconspicuous as possible-don't think it worked. Had an awesome coffee there as well, it took nearly half an hour but it was worth it!
Because the lake was closed off to the sea a few years ago thanks to an earthquake, the water has been rising and there were tons of houses, shops, trees and so on that were now submerged in water. Was really odd and can you imagine how annoyed you'd be, you have this amazing lake view property and now it's underwater!
Also did a bit of naughty shopping, bought this amazing embroided bed spread (or wall hanging apparently) that had taken a month to make for £35. Bargain. I'm having some serious issues here though, they have the most amazing bags, shoes, scarves, bright coloured things etc and it is killing me not to go mental. I'm allowing myself a bit because I will cry otherwise so I'm slightly ignoring the budget while I'm in Pana.
Went out for dinner on my own as Georgia didn't want to come out, actually been a while since I've done that now! Had some good chilli that was slightly spoiled by my arch nemesis-coriander. But I'm starting to become more immune to it now that I have it in particularly ever dish.
Off to Tikal tomorrow via Guatemala City, thankfully I'm only there for about an hour and I will not be leaving the bus station. The night bus to Flores is meant to be safe but I'm going to be cautious just in case!
