Firstly, if you ever come to playa del carmen and aren't good with the heat, do not stay in Hostel 3B. They are total air con stinges. They didn't turn it on till 10pm and then turned it off at 7am. This meant that within half an hour it was baking and I had to get up, thanks!

When I got in to the room last night there was a polish girl using the bathroom and I noted that she took a long time. This wasn't going to be the only occasion apparently but everytime she goes in. It was an hour this morning and i'm currently waiting again, what does she do in there and has she never stayed at a hostel before? There's only one bathroom for 6 of us, no backpacker etiquette! (and she doesn't even look like she's done anything to herself that could have taken longer than 20 minutes for a normal person)

As I was kept awake by the creeping temperature in my room, I headed out to breakfast at 9:30 to discover that even at that time of th morning it is a million degrees. Spent the day on the beach, where I bartered down a sunbed and chatted with a lovely Chilean couple. I also didn't realise how expensive playa was, or maybe I just didn't notice before. Going to have to be careful with the monies.

Haven't really made any cool friends yet, everyone in my room isn foreign and I haven't really seen them much. There is a Swiss guy though who is stalking me to Cozumel on Sunday, awesome. Seeing Perla, my Mexican friend from when I first came to playa. Yay a friend!

Simmy on

It sounds like you found a nice hostel. I still remember the heat inferno from when we went so no a/c must be horrible! How long are you staying in Playa? xxx
