Group decision this morning- go see another castle or go to a fort. Three of us decided to go to Charles Fort instead of Blarney Castle even though we had a small window of opportunity before we had to hop on a bus to Galway. Lauren, Dan, and I took a 45 min bus ride (one way) to a super cute town called Kinsale which has bright colored houses and lots of boats in the harbor. We arrived in the town at 10:30 and had to get back to the bus by 12:45 in which we still had to walk to the Fort, see it, and walk back to the town. It was quite a walk in which we found a shortcut on a bike route along the water. The walk couldn't have been any better and the Fort made it worth the trip.

The ride to Galway took a lot shorter than planned- it was originally scheduled for four hours but we got there in three. Right off the bus stop the streets were covered with people of all ages to experience the Galway Arts Festival. Our hostel is located in the central area of the pubs, restaurants and shopping. We barely have to walk to get to a pub right across the way which seemed to be a very popular location.  We ate dinner at a cute little place that attracted us with their sell of traditional Irish food and it didn't disappoint. I got my shepherd's pie with mash and it was so delicious. Lots of flavor and the temperature was constantly hot.

The path to find the hostel room is hilarious and long. We had to go through many swinging doors and ramps and steps to get there. The Internet works fantastic in the common room but there's nothing in our actual room. After the long day when we were ready to go to bed we found out that the shower water didn't work, the cold water faucet wasn't working, and the toilet stopped flushing. Not good for a mixed 8 person dorm room. To top it off, since we are so close to the pubs and our room is streetside, the music, people, and birds were exceptionally loud. We did have some really nice roommates in which 2 were on holiday from Paris for the week a guy from Sydney who has been traveling since December and another guy who grew up in AZ and is living in CA.

go raibh maith agat - love all the detail, especially all your food reports! I hope your shoes are proving to be perfectly comfortable given all the walking.
