Kate's Mom Sue greeted us at LAX and took us safely to her apartment in San Luis Obispo (SLO). The California central coast and coastal range provided several days of sightseeing and delicious meals. Strawberries are in full season there!
Before crashing into bed our first night, we went to a weekly farmers' market in full swing at 8pm. SLO is a college town and, as Kate said, "if you want college kids to come to anything, you have to have it at night" (referring to the more traditional early morning time for farmers' markets'). We went up to the (William Randolf) Hearst Castle for a tour of this mediterranean-inspired multi-genre art museum of a mansion. We also saw molting elephant seals along the windy California Route 1. That's windy and windy.
