Where I stayed
Koh Tao Island Resort

After I woke up this morning I packed my stuff and loaded up my ATV for the ride into town.  Last night I settled on Koh Tao Island Resorts on Sairee Beach ($46 USA per night which is more than I wanted to spend but oh well, still cheap).  The bungalows aren't directly on the beach, they are across a brick sidewalk but they are nice and have a/c so I took it, even though the people managing it weren't the friendliest.  It's super busy on this side of the island, tons of restaurants and bars and things to do at night so I think I partake in that tonight and hopefully meet some new people.

After checking in and dropping off my stuff, I headed out to discover the island by ATV.  The roads aren't well marked and there's only one paved road on the whole island - it was fun!  I've also signed up for an all day snorkeling trip tomorrowing which should be really great.  That's a lot of snorkeling and I should get my fill by then

When I headed out onto the beach this morning, I was surprised to see how many women were topless since it's frowned upon in Thai society.  I actually thought it was pretty rude of them to be topless since you can't read anything about Thailand without reading about modest dress.  I've kept my top on and plan to continue to do so!! ha ha

I really like going all over the island on my green ATV, especially since I have no idea where I'm going.  It's fun to run into something neat and stop and check it out.

Walking down the brick sidewalk that runs along Sairee Beach it really does feel like paradise.  Even with all the commericalism that it has (i.e. the zillion internet shops!), its still retained this unbelievable charm.  I think a lot of it is because they've managed to leave so much of the natural greenery untouched.  I can see why this is one of THE vacation destinations for Europeans.  I've met people from Germany, Crotia, France, Belgium and Switzerland!  So far I've only met the one American couple at Black Tip.  It's funny to sit and eat dinner and listen to all the languages being spoken around me, none of them English!

I've returned my ATV and gotten myself a scooter, which is much more reasonable in price.  Tonight I'm going to a yoga class at the Shambala Center here on Koh Tao.  I'm really excited about that.

I have a lot more pictures but I left my camera in the room so I'll upload them later.

Looks amazing. Any way you could maybe mark up a map and upload it to see your trek?

Sounds like you are having a blast. I'm so jealous. It sounds so cool!

Re: Map
Not that I can think of offhand. What about the map you see when you look at the entry? You can move it around and zoom in and out.
