Where I stayed
Then it was the last leg of the trip with a visit to Edinburgh ... I wasn't sure what to expect here as you have this impression that Scotland is a more rundown older somewhat depressed area (sorry about those comments Michelle) but nothing is further from the truth ... it is old ... but well kept ...Turns out we were the only two people in the city who weren't there for the Ireland/Scotland rugby game! Anyway, it cost us £3 for an all day transit pass and this was the way to go ... our hotel was 25 minute bus ride from the main train station (Waverly) at the city centre ... this allowed us to hop on and off buses all day ... we started at the Castle ... then they have a street called the Royal Mile that takes you from the castle to another place where what's her name ... oh ya Mary Queen of the Scots lived for a time until she pissed off at Queen E the 1st and sort of had her head separated from the rest of her .... we wandered the streets and found a pub or two to facebook everyone ... this was a great way to yank Michelle McHughs chain ... them Scots are so easy to get going ... well at least McHugh ... the next day it was off to the zoo which took a few hours. Great zoo though with conservation and natural habitats a prominent priority. Loved the penguins.. they don't have to do anything to look cute. And then back to downtown to wonder a bit more ... we
found the people here very friendly even if they were hard to understand ... we noticed in our journeys that the farther north we went the cheap things seem to get .... we found Nottingham very cheap ... York cheaper than London and Edinbourgh to be the least expensive ... that
is except for hotel rooms ... you have to look hard to get them under £70 anywhere in this country I mean countries ... but they do all provide a `'full English breakfast`'..and for now I can say I have had enough of beans, fried tomatoes, black pudding and fat sausages
