Back on bike and lán de pancake, I was in Forks before I knew it. I had to stop at a hardware store to try to replace my banjaxed coffee percolator (they sold everything but...including pink guns). The whole place did seem a bit "obsessed" with Twillight (the movie, for those of us who don't have/know teenagers) - even the dodgy motel had a sign up saying "Edward stayed here". I finally figured it out when I say a little bus go by with a sign on it for Twillight tours that the book is set here.
Forks is a strange enough place in it's own right. Not much going for it except tree-cutting downing and then piling them on a mass-eve truck to ship out. Those trucks give you a great shot of adrenalin when you're on the bike and they rattle past. Them and the 52-seater bus-sized R.V's that are towing a D4 tractor behind them! That can't be safe!!
After Forks it was into some serious Injin Territory. Although I haven't seen any yet but it's all beautiful national parks, forests and Indian Reservations. For now I'm camping at Lake Quinault (which is no longer the pristine lake it was before I arrived...another stretch without showers!!) and am hoping to make it into Oregon by the middle of next week.
Two quick footnotes:
First, I'm LOVING getting the comments and chat from everyone on this. Thank you all.
Second, I usually write these blogs on my iPod Touch and then upload when next in wifi area. I sometimes, as a result, miss out on doing a spell check so apologies if I get words all over the place.
Keep on truckin'
