First stop today was Lake Mondsee in Austria and the town of Mondsee. We had a look inside the church there (where the real people Sound of Music is based on were actually married). Didn't really think much of the town but it was nice down by the lake. We even made some mini snowmen (just for you Jim).

After lunch we headed into the lakes district of Austria to visit Hallstatt. Its a really pretty little town and driving through the lakes area had beautiful scenery. Hallstatt is apparently the oldest inhabited village in Europe. The town is right on the lake and it's surrounded by mountains. The temperature was changing so drastically towards the end of our visit that there was mist rising off the water. In the silence and surrounded by the mountains with the still lake water it was very picturesque.

We then continued driving past some other lakes to the village we were staying at on Lake Fuschl. Its a tiny little town (called Fuschl) so it didn't take long to explore on our walk after dinner. It would be a very popular place in summer.
