This week went by super fast too.  There is just so much going on at school and in the classroom that the days are gone before I know it.  We did have some intense conversations in class though about still trying our hardest and doing our best even though there aren't many days of school left.  Where did the year go?  Ploen's last day with us was Thursday.  Lucy's Thai summer school is done so she is back with us all the time until the 15th, then she leaves because her Thai school starts on the 18th.  I'm trying to do a bunch of art projects since they go well with our science unit- we made ants our of egg cartons.  We are currently making paint butterflies and butterfly life cycle mobiles.  We will be starting habitats next week and I have some fun stuff lined up for the kids too.

On Thursday was the student Talent Show/Spring Performance.  All the elementary students performed together and did a great job.  Christin from my class and her brother Dean played piano- both quite good. There are videos of all three for you to watch.

Oh and we had to say good bye to our caterpillars.  Apparently the lid wasn't on tight on their home and they got out over the weekend.  We found two of them, but they just went too long without food or water from their escape and died during the week.  The class doesn't seem too heartbroken and I'm going to try on Monday to get some more.  We'll keep a better eye on them this time if I do get more!

My friend Lisa, who I did camp with in Germany, sent my class Flat Stanley, but it was time to send him back to Iowa.  My kids made Thank You cards and each took individual pictures with Flat Stanley.  They wanted to make sure that I put food in the box so he didn't get hungry on his trip back (I was already sending snacks for the students to try) and we made our own Flat Stanley's so there was company as well.  It was a fun experience and the students really liked it.

All of the elementary teachers though it would be fun to surprise our students with a field trip to Dream World at the end of the year.  Dream World is kind of like Disneyland and the kids always ask to go.  Since we all have one field trip left it worked out.  Some of the students started asking where we were going for our second field trip so our story is: We are going to the dump.  We are doing a world class citizen project on recycling.  They are all going to get jump suits and rubber boots to protect their clothes.  We are going to learn where all our trash goes, how we can decrease the amount of trash we make and about recycling.  We've also told the kids that some of the best treasures are found in the trash so we'll be doing a treasure hunt as well.  You would not believe how excited some of the kids are to go to the dump right now!  They are so funny about it.

This weekend was pretty mellow.  Friday night Debra and I were going to go see the new X-Men, but there were only crappy seats left.  Be bought tickets for Saturday and then came back home and hung out here.

Saturday we went to the movies.  I haven't seen any of the other X-Men movies, but I thought this one was really good and look forward to seeing the others now.  Saturday night I went to the night market.  I met a girl, Aurélie there who I met from a website I'm on called travbuddy.  On the website you can post where you are going and also search other people who are there or going there.  It is great for finding people to travel with or to meet up with when you are somewhere.  Aurélie has only been in Bangkok a few days coming from traveling in South Africa.  We had a lot fun just hanging out and talking about traveling and teaching- she teaches as well and is hoping to find a job along her travels.  We weren't sure how late the city busses were running, so we cut the evening a little short to make sure she could get back to her hostel.  She'll be coming back through Bangkok towards the end of the month again so if it is before I leave we are planning to meet up again then.

After the night market, I headed to Larry's Dive to see Martin play.  It was on the way and I haven't gone in awhile.  The economy status is definitely affecting the night scene as there weren't many people there, but it was still a good time and fun to listen to some live music.

I've decided to just hang out today.  I'm reading a good book and don't feel like doing much so I'm not going to!  This week should be pretty easy.  Tuesday is a professional development day so no students and Friday is a holiday so I'm headed out of town.  We are going to Koh Tao to dive on Friday and then to Koh Phangan, famous for its full moon parties and something I feel I should experience once while in Thailand. Then we are heading back mid day on Sunday.  Should be a fun weekend for one of our last big hurrahs before everyone goes their own way for the summer...
