The second time in India was a struggle, but after a little struggle we managed to convince the responsible of the necessity of the trip, and Andreas and I went to Bangalore again. It was tough to find a hotel on short notice, basically we just had two places left that weren't already overbooked. We consulted our two Indian friends Siva and Chintan, and they strongly recommended the Golden Palms Spa Ressort. They told us it is further away from the office (knowing Bangalore's traffic by now, that was an issue of course), but the best hotel of Bangalore. That was promising enough to go for it, accepting an early raise each morning to avoid the heavy traffic. We also heard enough about Kerala by then - Siva's origins in India - that we wanted to stay a couple of days there to go on a nice backwaters houseboat tour.
We were picked up in Bangalore after a horrible flight via Mumbai, which got us to Bangalore early Monday morning. We planned to check in to the hotel and go straight to work, which didn't sound promising cause both of us were dead tired. Anyway, we made it to the hotel and Siva and Chintan hadn't promised too much. It was an awesome compound, huge gardens, fountains, swimming-pools, pool bars, lots of palm trees and the supposedly largest spa and sauna area of India. It was terrific and we were much rather into start getting spoiled than going to work, but what choice did we have. So we waited at the reception for the car that was supposed to be sent to us by the office, which never showed up in the end. It was getting later in the morning and after finally getting hold of people in the office they sent a new car. Traffic was heavy enough to make it 3 hours before we arrived at the office, but we finally made it. It was a great welcome in the office, people were happy to see us again and vice versa. Great bunch of happy people! For the rest of the week it was work and catching up with the colleagues, unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy the comforts of our hotel too much, but we tried. The last day we got a nice massage and were ready for travelling. Once again everything was nicely planned by our colleague and friend Siva. Kerala being his home place, of course, he wanted to make it perfect, which I can say it was! The night before taking off to Kerala we had to check out of our hotel and Siva organized us a place with a friend of his were we could stay a night. Very nice hospitality! In the middle of the night Siva and his wife Abby picked us up and put us into the night train from Bangalore to Kochi and wished us a nice trip.
