The staff ran around like ants, rescuing the food and what they could of the chairs to bring it into a reception hall that was found as replacement for the banquet. Not everyone fitted into this room, but somehow the dinner still went ahead. It was a great dinner and so much food, the staff definitely did well to rescue the occasion. There was live music, a God of luck went around handing out presents, they had a tombola and then karaoke until midnight that Betty managed to drag me into and battled out a song contest with the many Russian guests of the hotel with 2 Danish couples and us on the other side.
The next day we chilled out and relaxed more at the beach. The weather was back to very nice and we went for a swim in the ocean for a bit after having a massage at the beach under palm trees. We never left our resort and gave in to the lazy life.
The next day - our last in Vietnam - I started of in the resort's gym before we had a few more hours of relaxing at the beach. The last minutes were ticking before flying us back to Saigon and from there home to Melbourne.
Still exhausted we arrived at the island were a shuttle took us to our resort, a very nice 4 star resort Betty picked for finishing our trip with lots of relaxing. We both had our well deserved shower and threw ourselves into relaxation mode. We played a bit of table tennis and chilled out at the beach for a while, before having a snack before a big planned New Years fiest at the hotel: the entire hotel staff was setting up a banquet at the beach the whole day, set up a floating stage on the water next to it and the seats on the beach amongst the palm trees. It looked lovely and we were looking forward to the night. Unfortunately we forgot that the rain was following us and sure enough half an hour before the banquet was supposed to start it started pouring down out of the blue even though it was glorious weather before.
