This is an extraordinary place. Supposedly the artisans who worked on this project were descendants of the workforce for the Taj Mahal, but then, they say that of nearly all monuments made in India since 1650.

What is more confidently known is that following its construction (which took 15 years) the entire workforce was killed-off to prevent any rival ruler or realm from replicating its work. Its an Indian twist on the copyright/intellectual property right concept which seems all to common in Indian history. For instance, the Mughal ruler Shah Jahan had the hands of his workers removed after they had delivered him his beloved Taj Mahal.

Strange really. Who knows how many more great buildings and monuments India would have today had this not been so fashionable to its megalomaniac rulers?
