Where I stayed
I visited Oscar Schindler's Enamel Factory today. Definitely recommend it - one of the most interesting and creatively presented museums I have ever visited. And I have visited me a few museums in my time.
It follows the plight of the Polish Jews - during WWII, and in particular, the Jews that Schindler saved. You walk through a maze of rooms and recreated sets - eg an old hairdresser's salon, the ghetto, a basement apartment, a bed room, a war inflicted street etc.
Anyone who has seen the film will know that that bloke was amazing (misogyny aside) - he initally saw the factory as a way to get rich - he acquired an ex-Jewish factory very cheaply and then saw a way to have it staffed for practically nothing but on being there and the more he learned about their circumstances, the more he was convicted that he needed to do something. And do something he did - saving 1 200 Jewish people - and as one of the people he saved said in a film, the actual number of people who have Schindler to thank for their lives is infinite - if one person has 3 children and 8 grandchildren, how many offspring do 1 200 people have?
"Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire."
